Apply for an internship
The Detroit News offers 12-week summer internships to college students who are juniors, seniors or recent college graduates who can assume a standard workload at a daily, metropolitan newspaper.
Internship opportunities are available for reporters, copy editors, photographers, graphic artists and page designers and within our online operations.
The News offers hands-on experience and provides training sessions on various journalism and newsroom-related topics throughout the summer.
Applicants should have completed at least one prior internship or have had experience at student publications. Interns are paid $524 a week.

- seven to 10 work samples
- three references
- a 300-word statement on your strongest influence in journalism
