Washington — Vice President Joe Biden is expected to visit Detroit next month to headline the annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner at Cobo Center.

A person briefed on the matter said Biden is expected to headline the annual fundraising dinner for the Michigan Democratic Party on April 20.

Liz Allen, a spokeswoman for Biden, said she couldn't confirm the trip. The White House typically doesn't confirm the travel schedules of the president and vice president until closer to events.

This would be Biden's first trip to Michigan since winning re-election.

Biden visited Detroit three times during the campaign last year, including speaking at the Labor Day rally. He visited Michigan 10 times during his first term.

Biden, the son of an auto dealership manager, regularly brought up the auto bailout and President Barack Obama's decision to rescue General Motors Co. and Chrysler Group LLC.
