There is a chance the Lions and Ford Field could land the NFL's opening-night game Thursday, Sept. 5.

That game usually goes to the home of the Super Bowl champion, in this case the Baltimore Ravens. But the Ravens and Baltimore Orioles could not resolve their scheduling conflict — the Orioles also play on the night of Sept. 5 — so the Ravens will open on the road.

The Ravens (M&T Bank Stadium) and Orioles (Camden Yards) do not share a stadium but they do share parking, and the teams believed congestion in the area resulting from two games would be overwhelming.
