Spring Arbor Township — Family members say a 16-year-old boy who died after losing control of a Chevrolet Camaro while speeding along a gravel road in Jackson County had hopes of a career playing baseball.
The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports family members of Colton Aukerman gathered Monday to share memories of the boy, who they described as determined, optimistic and goal-driven. Danielle Clawson says she believes her nephew could have realized his baseball dreams.
Colton attended Western High School, where an impromptu memorial was held Sunday.
State police say the crash happened about 4:30 a.m. Sunday in Spring Arbor Township, near Jackson.
Colton was the only person in the 1996 Camaro. Police say his car left the road and struck a tree on the driver’s side. An investigation is ongoing.
