Springfield Township — A 17-year-old township teen who suffered minor injuries when attempting to get on a school bus Tuesday is expected to be released from a hospital, according to Oakland County Sheriff's deputies.
The youth was crossing the road about 7 a.m. in the 7000 block of Ormond Road where a southbound vehicle failed to stop for the bus and struck him, pushing him into a ditch.
The car's driver, a 22-year-old Holly man, stopped and later told deputies he was distracted by his pregnant wife throwing up inside the car and did not see the flashing red lights on the bus.
The student was treated for bruises and minor injuries and hospitalized overnight for observation. The driver was ticketed for failure to stop for the school bus.
