Williamston — A small mercury spill outside a Lansing-area high school prompted officials to close a parking lot as they responded.
WILX-TV reports the lot at Williamston High School was closed Thursday. The school district says there’s no risk of exposure to students or staff.
The superintendent says in a letter to parents that the mercury was brought onto the school grounds by a student.
The Ingham County health department ran tests at the high school and middle school. It found nothing beyond normal environmental levels.
