Detroit – With the Red Wings, it seems like it’s never about getting completely healthy – there’s always another injury on deck.
This time, it’s forward Henrik Zetterberg again.
With Johan Franzen returning to the lineup Sunday after missing 16 games with a concussion, the Red Wings were excited about the possibly to getting one more healthy body back and making the lineup whole.
But Zetterberg was a late scratch Sunday afternoon before the game against Florida; the team listed him as day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
Zetterberg missed 11 games in December with a back injury that has plagued him at times through his career.
Zetterberg has missed practice time over the last several weeks – coach Mike Babcock calls them “maintenance days” – to presumably rest the back and whatever else has been ailing him.
With Zetterberg unavailable, forward Daniel Cleary, who was expected to be a healthy scratch, got a reprieve and did play.
