Canton Township — A squabble outside a teen nightclub ended in gunfire early Sunday when a 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg.
The incident happened at 12:10 a.m. when Canton Police say the youth argued with a group of males in the parking lot of the After Dark teen nightclub in the 8600 block of N. Lilley.
“During the argument, one of the males in the opposing group shot the 16 year old in the thigh,” Canton Police Sgt. Jim Harrison said in a statement. “The suspect then fled the scene.”
Canton Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury, Harrison said.
According to the nightclub’s Facebook page, the venue was hosting a “Blackout Twerking Party,” which was open to teens aged 13-19.
The club’s web page says: “Our Security Staff is on duty inside and outside the club the entire night” and warns patrons they’re subject to be searched for weapons.
Canton Police detectives are investigating the shooting, Harrison said.
