Michael Sam made history Sunday.
He could make more this fall, if he becomes the first openly gay athlete to play in one of the United States’ four major professional sports.
Sam, a Missouri All-America defensive end, announced Sunday night that he is gay — in separate interviews with ESPN and the New York Times.
He is projected to be selected in the NFL Draft in April.
Sam’s is the latest coming-out announcement in the world of sports, following the likes of Jason Collins, Robbie Rogers and Tom Daley, among many others.
