Firefighters are on the scene of a blaze Thursday afternoon at a junk yard on the city’s west side.
Several cars were on fire at the junk yard at 9201 Freeland, south of West Chicago, fire officials said. The fire began around 3:21 p.m.
The fire was designated a Hazmat Level 2 because there are tankers on the property, said Detroit Fire Chief Dale Bradley. It was not known if the tankers contained any substances.
No injuries were reported.
