The Tigers play the second game of their four-series against the Aís on Tuesday night at 10:05 p.m. at Coliseum in Oakland (FSD, 1270-AM and 97.1-FM). Hereís what you need to know:

* The Tigers have lost seven of their last eight games, and Max Scherzer, Tuesday nightís starter, is a good candidate to stop the bleeding. He hasnít lost since April 13 (5-1, at San Diego), though he was knocked around in his last outing, last Wednesday against the Indians. The Tribe lit up Scherzer for 12 hits and seven earned runs over seven innings, though Scherzer was not tagged with the loss in the 11-10 Detroit defeat.

* Scherzer was the winner in his six previous starts, pushing his record to 6-1 and lowering his ERA to 1.83. His ERA, however, climbed to 2.59 after the Cleveland game.

* Ian Kinsler, who was given a day off on Monday, carries an 11-game hitting streak into the game.

* Victor Martinez and Miguel Cabrera donít have problems with Oakland pitching. In 67 career games against the Aís, Martinez is hitting .345 (86-for-249), with 20 doubles and 24 RBI. Cabrera, in 49 games, is batting .337 (60-for-178) with 12 doubles, 15 homers and 47 RBI.
