The Tigers have officially agreed to terms with first-round draft pick Derek Hill, the team announced Tuesday.
Hill, from Elk Grove (Calif.) High School, was the 23rd overall pick. He told The News on Wednesday he planned to sign this past Sunday.
The Tigers paid a little bit over the $1,953,100 recommended for a No. 23 pick.
Hill, 18, hit .500 with 26 runs scored, 11 doubles, seven triples and 30 runs batted in during his senior year.
