It’s grilling season! And who doesn’t love to grill? (Or at least eat what someone else has grilled.)
Outdoor grills are something everyone seems to love to own. Though a fully equipped outdoor kitchen is great to have if you have the space — and can afford the expense.
What’s wonderful about a fully equipped outdoor kitchen is that it can be used entirely on its own without having to make constant trips indoors. A fully equipped outdoor kitchen includes refrigeration of some sort, running water in a real sink, storage cabinetry and, of course, the grill itself. The outdoor kitchen is separate from the rest of the living space, allowing the two areas to be utilized entirely on their own. And a built-in outdoor grill is an ideal place for summer fun with family and friends, plus it adds great interest to the architecture of the house.
Can you do it yourself? Yes, if you are handy. You will need to incorporate counter space so you can prep and work. (But realize you should never build an outdoor island from combustible materials, which includes plywood countertops that are covered with tile.)
When you purchase cabinets for this outdoor grill area, it is a good idea to use polymer. Don’t forget to have storage space for the grill brushes, plus eating utensils and paper towels.
