Michigan State Police make commercial vehicle inspections

Lansing Michigan State Police say motor carrier officers conducted more than 1,100 commercial motor vehicle safety inspections during this years Roadcheck enforcement operation.

The joint effort of federal, state and local inspectors from the U.S., Canada and Mexico took place June 3 to 5.

During the enforcement period, officers focused on driver qualifications and compliance, safety violations, hazardous materials compliance and homeland security issues.

Stops led to 440 traffic citations in Michigan during the operation. Additionally, one drug possession arrest and seven fugitive arrests were made.

Roadcheck operations are sponsored by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
