Red Wings re-sign forwards Mitch Callahan, Andrej Nestrasil for Grand Rapids

Detroit The Red Wings have re-signed forwards Mitch Callahan and Andrej Nestrasil to one-year contracts.

Both right wings played in Grand Rapids last season, posting career-high statistics. They are headed to the Griffins again this season.

Callahan, 22, led the Griffins with a plus-23 rating while scoring 26 goals and assisting on 18 for 44 points.

A 2009 sixth-round draft pick, Callahan was called up for one game last season with the Red Wings, March 25 in Columbus.

Callahan has played in 189 games in Grand Rapids with 43 goals and 73 points, along with 247 penalty minutes.

Nestrasil, 23, had a career-high 36 points (16 goals, 20 assists) with the Griffins.

Nestrasil, a 2009 third-round draft pick, spent most of his first two pro seasons in Toledo (East Coast League).
