Nephew accused of pulling gun on uncle over microwaved food arrested in Pontiac

Pontiac — Authorities arrested a man who pulled a gun on his uncle and threatened to shoot after food was left in the microwave Sunday afternoon, according to Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded at 1:50 p.m. Sunday to an address in the 600 block of Colorado Street for a report of domestic violence and felonious assault, according to Lt. Steven Schneider.

The 61-year-old caller told deputies his 28-year-old nephew, who has been residing with him for the last few months, argued with him about the older man’s food being left out.

“It wasn’t anything overly specific,” Schneider said about the food. “They didn’t have a good relationship to begin with.”

The nephew came back with a handgun and told his uncle he was going to shoot him, Schneider said. The uncle retreated to another room and called 911.

When deputies arrived, the nephew had fled the home on foot.

However, the nephew returned to the home later that evening and his uncle, again, called 911.

Deputies took the nephew into custody without incident for felonious assault and outstanding warrants. As of Monday morning, the suspect was lodged in the Oakland County Jail pending charges.
