Rep. John Dingell, meet Kim Kardashian.

Kim who?

Dingell, D-Dearborn, was perplexed Monday by a tweet from the federal Environmental Protection Agency.

“I’m now a C-List celebrity in Kim Kardashian: Hollywood,” tweeted the EPA’s Office of Water. “Come join me and become famous too by playing on iPhone.

Dingell is the longest-serving member of Congress but 59 years in office hasn’t kept him up with the Kardashians.

“I’m the last original author of the Clean Water Act but I have no idea who/what a Kardashian is,” tweeted the congressman.

Turns out an EPA fellow inadvertently triggered the auto-generated tweet, which linked to a popular game app featuring the reality-TV star, according to an EPA spokeswoman.

The accidental tweet, which remained up for three hours, led to 3,000 retweets, according to media accounts.

The EPA isn’t used to that kind of attention. Its previous tweet, about a proposal to protect clean water, was retweeted four times.

As for Dingell, his staff explained who Kardashian is and why she is famous.

The congressman’s response probably spoke for all of us.

“I’m only left with more questions,” he tweeted.
