'Hell's Kitchen' is casting in Southfield in August
Could you handle the heat in Chef Gordon Ramsay’skitchen? If so, get yourself to the open casting call for the ornery chef’s show “Hell’s Kitchen,” 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Great Lakes Culinary Center, 24101 W. Nine Mile in Southfield. The Fox show, heading into its 13th season, is a cooking competition where the winning chef gets a cash prize and the chance to work as head or executive chef at a high-profile restaurant.
Possible movie set going up in Corktown
No one is saying so, but it looks like a scene from a movie is going up at Sixth Street between Howard and Porter streets in the Corktown area of Detroit. It looks like pieces of a destroyed building. Comic book websites are sure it’s a scene for the upcoming “Batman v Superman” movie that is filming in the area, but nothing is confirmed.
5th 'Pirates of Caribbean' film set for 2017 release
The decks are swabbed for the a fifth “Pirates of the Caribbean” film Disney Studios announced Wednesday. The Johnny Depp flick is scheduled to set sail July 7, 2017, with “Kon Tiki” directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg at the helm. The fifth installment of the franchise was originally slated for a 2015 release date, but script issues pushed it back.
Adele's son awarded damages against paparazzi
Singer Adele’s son, Angelo, was awarded a five-figure settlement in a privacy lawsuit against Corbis Images UK. The suit claims paparazzi photographed family moments. The British star insists that her toddler son must never be “public property,” according to Adele’s lawyer. The money will be held in a trust for the boy, who turns 2 in October.
Peaches Geldof's cause of death was heroin
A coroner has ruled that television host Peaches Geldof died of a heroin overdose, the BBC reported. Geldof, who died in April at age 25, had heroin of a “fatal range” in her system, as well as evidence of codeine, methadone and morphine. High quality heroin, burned spoons and syringes were found in her home, which she shared with her husband and two sons. Geldof’s mother, Paula Yates, died of a heroin overdose in 2000.
■Actress Naya Rivera married her boyfriend, actor Ryan Dorsey, over the weekend, says People magazine. This comes just three months after the “Glee” star ended her engagement to Detroit rapper Big Sean.
■“Guardians of the Galaxy” actress Zoe Saldana is pregnant with her first child, according to US Weekly. She and her husband, Marco Perego, haven’t announced anything yet.
