Man arrested for shooting at car in Home Depot parking lot in Harper Woods

Harper Woods Police arrested on Thursday afternoon a 37-year-old Detroit man accused of firing multiple shots at a vehicle in a Home Depot parking lot.

Around 12:10 p.m.police responded to a report of shots fired in the Home Depot parking lot near Eight Mile and Kelly roads. Officers were told that a man had fired several rounds from a handgun at a silver Chrysler 200 as it left thelot.

Officers found the man near the scene and arrested him. They recovered a large caliber handgun.

Police said the shooting victim contacted the Harper Woods Department of Public Safety after he left the parking lot. He reported that he was backing up in his vehicle when a man tried to open his car door. He told police that he felt he was being robbed so he left the parking area.

No one was injured in the incident, but the victim’s vehicle had some damage from the gunshots, police said.

The suspect is being held without bond on multiple felonies including assault with intent to murder.
