Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who helped Bloomfield Hills Olympian Meryl Davis claim the mirror ball trophy on this past season of “Dancing with the Stars,” brought his fancy footwork on Saturday to the Westland Shopping Center.
The 14-season veteran of the hit ABC helped the mall introduce three new stores and a number of remodeled ones too.
The shopping center, which will celebrate 50 years in business next year, welcomes beauty retailer Ulta, fashion accessory retailer Charming Charlie and family footwear retailer Shoe Carnival. The first two stores will open later this month, while the shoe store opened last Saturday.
Both Victoria’s Secret and its PINK boutique have expanded and remodeled stores in addition to updates for Justice & Brothers, Bath & Body Works, H&R Block, Hot Topic and Nestle Toll House.
Recently, Westland Shopping Center upgraded and renovated mall entrances, exteriors, outdoor billboards, carpeting and amenities outside. The mall, at 35000 West Warren, includes 70 stores and serves Westland, Canton, Livonia, Plymouth, Wayne, Dearborn, Garden City and surrounding areas.
The partnership with Chmerkovskiy comes after he announced on “The View” last month that he would be leaving “Dancing with the Stars. The Ukrainian-born dancer will perform at 11 a.m. In 14 appearances on the show, he’s made it to the final five times.
