Many Cruise cars are classics - others are...

The Woodward Dream Cruise attracts tens of thousands of classic cars each year, each with their own flair.

Muscle cars, hot rods, rat rides were easy enough to spot ... but then there are cars in a category all their own.

From Scooby Doo’s Mystery Machine to retired fire trucks, cruisers keep car enthusiasts guessing as to what they might see next.

A couple of fan favorites could only be described as a ride that may scare you to death and a ride to die for.

Ithica resident Joe Barden, director of the Barden Funeral Home, had the latter … a 1923 Meteor hearse.

And it’s all original equipment, including the incredibly beautiful and exquisitely hand-carved wooden body.

Around the corner from Erabus, once the world’s largest haunted house, organizers had a quite a creepy cruiser made out to look like the head of a screaming man with his hair on fire.

Definitely one of the most memorable vehicles at the cruise -but we hear the ride is bone-rattling. / Todd McInturf / The Detroit News
