Kathryn Ronk )
A former Catholic school teacher facing up to life in prison for allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old student waived her right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday morning in a Madison Heights courtroom.
Kathryn Ronk, 29, made a brief appearance before Judge Keith Hunt at 43rd District Court where her attorney, Jim Thomas, agreed to move forward without the hearing. Ronk said little, answering “Yes, sir,” and “No, your honor,” to standard questions to verify her understanding of her rights.
Her case was bound over to circuit court. No date has been set yet in her next court appearance.
Ronk faces five counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct for engaging in multiple sexual acts with the teen in classrooms at Bishop Foley High School where she is no longer employed.
Ronk was a Spanish teacher at the school.
