Quick hits

Here’s what you need to know:

■ The Lions take on the Buffalo Bills in their final exhibition game of the preseason. It will be a reunion of sorts between the Lions and their former coach, Jim Schwartz, who was fired in the offseason after five seasons. Schwartz is the Bills’ defensive coordinator.

■ Don’t expect to see a ton of familar names for the Lions, who are giving 11 starters the night off, including quarterback Matthew Stafford, wide receiver Calvin Johnson, running back Reggie Bush and defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

■ This will be another opportunity for linebacker Tahir Whitehead to make a run at the starting strong-side linebacker position. Whitehead had a huge game last week against the Jaguars, with 10 tackles and three sacks.
