One man shot and killed another man Tuesday after a road rage incident in Livingston County, police said.
Livingston County Undersheriff Mike Murphy said the incident happened about 3:35 p.m., after two vehicles that were traveling east on Grand River near Chilson Road in Genoa Township.
A 69-year-old Howell man driving a 2012 Dodge pickup initially was behind a 43-year-old Howell man driving a 2014 Ford Escape, Murphy said.
“The pickup truck passed the Escape and ultimately got stopped at the traffic light,” Murphy said. “The 43-year-old Howell man exited the vehicle to approach the pickup truck and was shot.”
The 43-year-old man’s wife was in the car at the time of the shooting. Police have not released the men’s names.
After the shooting, the 69-year-old man waited for police to arrive, Murphy said. Police took him into custody.
According to witnesses, there was no physical altercation before the shooting, Murphy said. Police are continuing to interview witnesses. They do not believe the two men knew each other.
