    Mark Evan Auk played the last two games of his high school career — and likely in his career — last weekend.

  2. Detroit Western still pushing for pinnacle in baseball

    Western will go for its sixth straight Detroit Public School League title against Detroit King at 7 p.m. Monday at Comerica Park. The goal is to become the first PSL team to reach a state final since 1972, when Western lost to Royal Oak Kimball, 3-1, in the Class A final.

Tom grew up on Detroit's east side and has lived there for about 26 years, with stops in Ann Arbor and Southern California along the way.

His main beat is high schools; it's the area he started in and continues to have a passion for. He has also covered other areas such as colleges (beat writer for Detroit Mercy and Oakland University men's basketball teams) and professional sports. He's also done radio and television work, including a show called Prep Ticket that runs on Comcast Local, and STATE CHAMPS!, a show that airs on MYTV20 and is re-broadcast on Comcast Local.
