The Detroit News e-Edition FAQ

Q: Why did you change the e-Edition?

A: We're committed to providing readers with the latest and best technology available. We also wanted a way for users to access all that The News offers every day, whether it's in the print newspaper, at">, on social networks or smart phones, etc. This new version of the e-Edition serves as a gateway to all of those platforms as well as provides updates throughout the day and bonus features. Subscribers tested the new version and it was very well-received. Users liked the enhanced functionality and being able to read late-breaking news along with that day's newspaper.

Q: If I don't presently get the e-Edition, how can I get it?

A: If you are a newspaper subscriber, log in to"> and click the "First time user" button. Enter your account number or other account info, then click "continue." The next screen will ask you to provide a user name (e-mail address on your account) and create a password. After you provide this information, you'll have access to the e-Edition. If you are not a current subscriber, contact Customer Service at (800) 395-3300 or"> to sign up.

Q: How can I learn my way around the new e-Edition?

Q: What is my 'User Name'?

A: Your user name is the e-mail address on your account.

Q: I forgot my password; what should I do?

A: Go to"> and click "Forgot My Password." A new password will be e-mailed to you.

Q: Can I print a specific article or puzzle without printing the whole page?

A: Yes. Double click on the article or puzzle you would like to print. A new window will pop up showing you the article you selected as it appears in the paper. Click on the printer icon on the top right side of the page. A new window will pop up that will give you the option to download the article. Click "download" and you can print the article you selected. If you prefer a simpler layout of the story, click on "text" when the article pops up and you can print that version, too.

Q: Where are the sales inserts I used to be able to see?

A: The sales inserts are available in the Shopping section (top left tab). You'll be able to browse through the inserts much easier than before.

Q: How do I e-mail an article?

A: Double click on the story you would like to e-mail. A window will pop up showing the story. Click the envelope icon on the top right of the article window. This will bring up a screen where you can type in the e-mail address to where you would like the article sent.

Q: How do I download a .pdf copy of the newspaper?

A: Click on the "save" icon on the top right of the page. (When pausing your cursor over the icon, you'll see the words "Save application link.") Select "Download Newspaper PDF." You can choose to save the file to read later or just open it.

Q: Can I share an article via social media?

A: Yes. When you are reading a single story, click on the icon at the top right corner that looks like two people. You'll have the choice of sharing the story on Facebook or Twitter, or copy the link to the story to send or post elsewhere.

Q: I'm not receiving my daily e-Edition e-mail. Why?

A: Please call the Consumer Solutions Center at (800) 395-3300 or e-mail"> and we'll respond right away.

Q: How do I stop receiving the daily e-Edition e-mails?

A: Simply click the "unsubscribe" button at the bottom of the e-mail.

Q: How long will the old e-Edition be available?

A: The old version will be available to our subscribers over the next 45 days. We're confident that once you try the new version, you'll prefer it over the old one.

Q: I get to the e-Edition directly through the e-mail you send me every day. How long will that work without me logging in with my password?

A: You'll only need to log in once every 30 days.

Q: What Internet browsers will work well with the new e-Edition?

A: We recommend Internet Explorer 8.0 or higher. The site is also supported by Firefox, Safari and Chrome.

Q: How do access my newspaper account?

A: From the start page of the e-Edition, click on the "Manage Account" link on the bottom left side.
