Detroit— Porsche AG unveiled its concept 918 RSR hybrid sports car at the North American International Auto Show this morning.

The automaker is using its 911 GT3 hybrid engine technology in the new mid-engine coupe 918 RSR — the motor sports version of the 918 Spyder concept car.

The 918 RSR is "liquid metal chrome blue" and has an orange color on the brakes' calipers and body stripes to signify it is a Porsche hybrid. It's a racing lab concept car.

The 918 RSR has a V-8 engine and two electric motors, with 563 horsepower from the engine and 767 horsepower with the power from the two electric motors.

Porsche is also showing off its 2012 Cayman R, which was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. It will go on sale later this year.
