Thousands of Michigan homes turned into rental properties over the last decade, a result of the recession and the high unemployment and foreclosures that followed.
2010 Census data released this week revealed a steep decline in home ownership, with 40,000 fewer owner-occupied homes in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Livingston counties than 10 years earlier. You can use this database to see how every city, county, village and township fared during the decade. It includes data on median age of residents and average household size as well.
