Relocation firm sees uptick in people moving to Michigan

A Troy real estate relocation company said Tuesday it last year experienced a 25 percent increase in the number of people it helped to relocate to Michigan.

Companies including work apparel manufacturer Carhartt as well as automotive suppliers Lear and Johnson Controls have been hiring and creating demand for more housing in Metro Detroit, said Nicole Bammel, director of business development and relocation services for Coldwell Banker Weir Manuel, in a statement.

The relocation report came a day after Realcomp II Ltd., a Farmington Hills multiple listing service, said Metro Detroit home sales increased 2.2 percent in 2011.
