Kaleido's dream car: Fast and crazy

Pop/rock group Kaleido is one of the featured local acts at the Music & Motors Experience on Saturday. (Kaleido)

High-energy pop/rock group Kaleido has only been on the scene for about a year, but the Metro Detroit-based band already has taken its music on the road, played two stops of the Vans Warped Tour and is one of the featured local acts at the Music & Motors Experience on Saturday on the grounds of the Pontiac Silverdome.

Colorful and confident lead singer Christina Chriss was fronting her own cover group before forming Kaleido with songwriting partner and drummer Joey Fava. We talk to the singer about Dream Cruise and what's on the horizon for her band.

Have you played during Dream Cruise before?

This is Kaleido's first summer out, so also our first time playing a Dream Cruise. I'm looking forward to seeing all the other bands, local and national (at Motors & Music Experience).

What's your dream car?

Something fast and crazy, like me.

What's next for Kaleido after the Motors & Music Experience?

On Aug. 31, we're opening for the Offspring at the Fillmore. Sept. 1, I'm singing the national anthem at Comerica Park before the Tigers vs. White Sox, and Kaleido is doing an on-field acoustic performance.

We're the only artists to perform an original song on the field in 2012. We're also currently in the studio finishing up our first record, which we're releasing this fall.
