Kristi Klein-O’Connell (Macomb County Sheriff's Office)
Chesterfield Township — A Lenox Township woman was arraigned Monday, accused of possession of narcotics and driving while impaired with her two young children in the back seat, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said.
Kristi Klein-O'Connell, 32, was in 42nd District Court before Judge William Hackel on charges of operating while intoxicated with occupants less than 16 years old and possession of a controlled substance.
Klein-O'Connell was pulled over by deputies at 10:29 p.m. Saturday on Gratiot and 23 Mile for "erratic driving."
Deputies said Klein-O'Connell, whose 2- and 4-year-old children were unrestrained in the back seat, smelled of marijuana when she informed them she was a medical marijuana card-holder.
While searching the car, deputies discovered several pills for which she did not have a prescription.
After failing a field sobriety test, Klein-O'Connell was arrested and the children were turned over to their grandmother.
She posted bail. Her next court date has yet to be scheduled.
