Lake Trust Credit Union to build $30M headquarters in Brighton

Lake Trust Credit Union plans to build a $30 million headquarters on 17 acres near U.S. 23 and I-96 in Brighton, the financial institution said Wednesday.

The 100,000-square-foot building could be completed by 2015, Lake Trust said in a press release. The credit union is negotiating a purchasing agreement with the property's owner.

The new headquarters will allow Michigan's fourth-largest credit union to consolidate a workforce that was split between corporate offices in Lansing and Plymouth. The new headquarters will accommodate about 350 employees, spokeswoman Danielle Brehmer said.

Lake Trust also said it plans to invest another $10 million to the area by adding new retail facilities across the state.

"The new Lake Trust headquarters will be the best place to work in Michigan," said David Snodgrass, Lake Trust president and CEO. "Locating our new headquarters in Brighton means Lake Trust is uniting our workforce in new corporate space at a more central location within a reasonable commute for most of our current employees. Brighton and nearby Ann Arbor are vibrant growing communities, and this location simply makes the most business sense for our organization."
