Wayne State hosting annual citizenship conference

Detroit — The Arab Spring and artists raising awareness on issues of identity and culture are among the topics on tap for a conference this week in Detroit.

The 10th annual conference by Wayne State University's Center for the Study of Citizenship is called "The Meaning of Citizenship" and runs from Thursday through Saturday.

It's expected to feature scholars from 18 countries. Scheduled speakers include Time magazine editor-at-large Bobby Ghosh and New York University professor Arjun Appadurai.

The conference is co-sponsored by Welcome Mat Detroit, which is a program of the ACCESS and Global Detroit.
