Southfield — Criminals would do well to stay out of Southfield.
For the second day in a row, the Southfield Police Department has nabbed alleged bad folks after they attempted to rob businesses in the city.
The latest occurred at about 7 a.m. Thursday when a 62-year-old Detroit man and a 43-year-old Taylor woman stole merchandise from the CVS store in the 23000 block of Greenfield Road.
"They fled in a white Jeep but we had a partial plate number," said Lt. Nick Loussia.
"One of our officers attempted to stop them on Greenfield just north of Eight Mile Road but they fled from him into Detroit. There was a short pursuit and their vehicle spun out at Ashton and Pembroke streets."
According to Loussia there was a short foot chase but both suspects were arrested without incident or injuries. The two are expected to be arraigned Friday .
The stolen merchandise was recovered.
On Wednesday, a man robbed a White Castle on Telegraph Road near Nine Mile, telling the cashier "I'll have some burgers and all the money in the register."
Another employee overheard the robber and called 911. Southfield police swarmed into the area and arrested the suspect within two minutes of the attempted robbery.
Milton Eugene McClain was arraigned one count of armed robbery and one count of felony firearm before 46th District Court Magistrate Cynthia Arvant on Wednesday afternoon.
He remains in custody after being unable to post a $100,000 cash or surety bond. His next court date is March 25.
