Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley hoped to enter a pre-trial diversion program for a charge of driving under the influence. Now Fairley and his attorneys reportedly will have to rethink their strategy.

WPMI Local 15 News in Mobile, Ala., said Fairley was in court Thursday expecting to get a plea deal for his DUI arrest in May, when an Alabama State Trooper pulled him over for going about 100 mph.

Mobile County Circuit Judge Sarah Stewart said there was no deal. Fairley's attorneys expected the charge to be dropped in exchange for Fairley entering the DUI diversion program.

WPMI said Stewart determined that Fairley was not eligible for the program because in December, prosecutors in Mobile dropped a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge against the Lions star.
