Detroit News girls basketball Dream Team and all-state teams

The Dream Team

Abby Cole, 6-5, sr., C, Grand Haven

Cole was the most dominant inside player in the state, making life miserable for opponents by blocking shots and altering others as Grand Haven won its second straight Class A title. She averaged 14 points, 9.5 rebounds and 7.5 blocks, and ended her career on a 51-game winning streak. Cole will play volleyball at Michigan next season.

Taylor Gleason 5-9, sr., G, Goodrich

Gleason stepped up with the loss of all-state guard Aketra Sevillian (knee) and made sure Goodrich repeated as Class B state champions, averaging 21 points and 8.5 rebounds. Gleason will play at Illinois next season.

Kysre Gondrezick 5-9, fr., G, Benton Harbor

Gondrezick averaged 29.5 points, 13.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 3.8 steals. She shot 42.3 percent overall, 38.1 percent from 3-point range and 70 percent from the free-throw line. She already has drawn interest from schools such as Notre Dame, Stanford, Michigan State and Purdue.

Lexi Gussert, 6-0, jr., G Crystal Falls Forest Park

Gussert averaged 32.5 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, four steals and three blocks as Forest Park finished 23-2 and reached the Class D quarterfinals. She scored 50 in one game. Gussart has been offered scholarships by Tennessee, Michigan State, Illinois and Marquette.

Tori Jankoska 5-8, sr., G, Freeland

Jankoska was named Miss Basketball, averaging 30.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, five steals and four assists as Freeland finished 22-2. She finished with 2,333 career points, 741 this season. Jankoska will play at Michigan State next season.

Coach: Jason Gray, Goodrich

Gray, in his 14th year as coach, guided Goodrich to its second straight Class B state championship despite losing three players to injuries. Goodrich finished 25-3 this season and is 77-5 the last three years.
