Area artists can earn a share of $3M in challenge

Calling all cash-strapped artists: There's a pile of cash waiting for a good home. Starting Monday, you can apply for a share of $3 million the Knight Foundation's Knight Arts Challenge will distribute to local art projects taking place in or benefiting Detroit.

The deadline is April 22. Visit www.knightarts.org for details or show up for a 7-9 p.m. town hall meeting April 4 with Knight Arts officials at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. Once you're clear on the process, decide how much cash you need, and create a proposal in 150 words or less. Then hit "Send."
