John Mayer will perform at DTE Energy Music Theatre Aug. 7, according to tour dates announced by the singer on Thursday. The show is part of his first outing since throat issues forced him to temporarily sideline his career.
Ticket information, including prices and on-sale date, is TBA.
Mayer was due to perform at the Fox Theatre in April 2012 but canceled the date, along with the rest of his tour, when a granuloma on his vocal cords led to his taking an indefinite break from live performing. Mayer was treated for the ailment in 2011 and put on vocal rest, but the condition unexpectedly returned.
He still released his fifth album, "Born and Raised," in May 2012. The set debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top 200 albums chart, selling 219,000 copies its first week.
Mayer's extensive summer campaign kicks off July 6 at Milwaukee's Summerfest and wraps Oct. 5 at the Hollywood Bowl.
"American Idol" winner Phillip Phillips will open for Mayer on tour.
