A 42-year-old worker was killed Thursday when a 10,000-pound piece of equipment fell on him at a Shelby Township business, police said.
Police and fire personnel responded to a 911 call around 1 p.m. at MollerTech at 13877 Teresa Drive, which manufactures plastic automotive parts. Fire Chief James Swinkowski said the employee was working on crane when a 10,000-pound industrial die fell on him.
"The victim, a 42-year-old male, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time it appears that this is an unfortunate industrial accident," police said in statement.
Police did not release the victim's name Thursday afternoon at the family's request.
