High school football players are used to playing under the lights on Friday evenings. But this week, Michigan State is giving them the unique experience of taking a college visit and seeing a college game on a Friday night. When the Spartans host Western Michigan for their home opener, they will also host a group of recruits, who will be part of a pre-game BBQ and tour before taking in the game.

Notable visitors include in-state class of 2015 prospects Kyonta Stallworth and Brian Cole. Both have Spartan offers and both have already been to East Lansing several times. Stallworth, a 6-4, 275-pound offensive lineman from St. Clair Shores South Lake, nearly committed to the Spartans earlier in the summer. A hurdle was being able to get his mom on campus, and he will visit this time with both of his parents.

Cole, from Saginaw Heritage and the state of Michiganís top prospect on Scout.com in the 2015 class, is a 6í2, 190-pound safety and wide receiver who has additional offers from Michigan, Ohio State and Tennessee. He maintains that he will take his time with his recruitment, but the Spartans are very much in the mix.

Berrien Springs senior offensive tackle Nick Padla is hoping to leave with an offer. He camped at Michigan State this summer and was told by Spartan coaches that a decision would likely be made on an offer after they look at his scrimmage highlights. The 6-6, 270-pound Padla turned that footage in last week and is hoping to leave Friday night with an offer. He is planning on making a decision on Labor Day and has offers from Illinois, Cincinnati, Toledo and others.

Other seniors of note who will be on campus Friday include Muskegon Mona Shores wide receiver Asantay Brown, a Western Michigan commit who the Spartans are still showing interest in; Romeo tight end Blake Williams; Montrose wide receiver Malik Taylor; and South Lake defensive end Caldin Rogers.

In addition to Cole and Stallworth, there will be plenty of other juniors soaking up the Friday night lights. East Grand Rapids linebacker Carter Masek, who has a Western Michigan offer, will visit with his teammate, Mikey Roth, a quarterback prospect. East Kentwood offensive lineman John Keenoy, East English defensive end Kamahl March, U-D Jesuit quarterback Ryan Brand and Troy quarterback Alex Mussat will also attend.

As has been the case with summer visits and practice visitors, the Spartans will host a number of young prospects, as well. Saginaw Arthur Hill sophomore defensive ends Lawrence Gordon and Jaylen Browder will attend Fridayís game. South Lake running back Martell Pettaway, a fellow class of 2016 prospect, will be there too.

Future visits

With high schools kicking off their seasons this week, a couple recruits will not be able to make Fridayís game, but will look to visit East Lansing another time.

Chandler Park Academy class of 2016 wide receiver Jalen Martin will attend MSUís Sept. 7 clash with South Florida. Already 6-2 and 190 pounds, Martin landed his first offer from Eastern Michigan this summer. He attended Michigan Stateís camp in June.

Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward twins Andrew Dowell and David Dowell have a big-time tilt with Cleveland Glenville on Saturday, forcing them to pass up the opportunity to visit MSU on Friday. Andrew, a running back, and David, a wide receiver and defensive back, both have a handful of offers and both camped at Michigan State. They will look to return to East Lansing later in the fall.
