Grosse Pointe Woods — Sean Koski has made quite an impression two games into the season.

“The kid is reading defenses,” Grosse Pointe North coach Frank Sumbera said of the Macomb L’Anse Creuse North quarterback. “He’s giving you that NFL look.”

Sumbera’s defense, under the guidance of first-year defensive coordinator Charlie Kaiser, has been gearing up for Koski all week as the two Macomb Area Conference White Division opponents square off at 7 p.m. Friday in Grosse Pointe.

Koski has 10 touchdown passes, including a 17-yarder to Trevor Conklin on the game’s final play in L’Anse Creuse North’s 39-37 victory over Grosse Pointe South.

“We’re going to change things up defensively,” Sumbera said. “We’ve got to mix it up. We can’t let him sit back there and read us.”

Offensively, Sumbera will try to keep the ball out of Koski’s hands by running the ball behind Tod Long (265 yards).

“We’ve had some 80-yard drives this year,” Sumbera said. “Hopefully we can have a few of those (tonight).”

The pick: L’Anse Creuse North by 3
