Southfield’s Mid-Century Modern gems will star in an architectural bus tour Sunday, sponsored by the Southfield Historical Society and the city planning department.
The tour will stop at 26 buildings and three neighborhoods. High on the list will be Minoru Yamasaki’s “ode to aluminum,” the 1959 Reynolds Aluminum Building, as well as the 1962 Congregation Shaarey Zedek and the 1966 Northland Theater, now the Millennium Center. The tour will kick off at 2 p.m. at Shaarey Zedek, 27375 Bell, and last about two and a half hours.
