Wayne State scored three unanswered touchdowns in the second half to defeat Northwood, 31-17, in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football game at Wayne State Stadium Saturday.
After trailing 17-10 at halftime, the Warriors (3-2, 3-1) tied the score when Carl Roscoe hit Val Showers for a 51-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.
Wayne State took the lead on a 1-yard Toney Davis run with 3:59 to play, then added a score when Nores Fradi returned a fumble 12 yards for a touchdown 41 seconds later.
Cameron Jackson and Carrington Thompson scored first-half touchdowns for Northwood (2-3, 1-2).
Desmond Martin and Davis each rushed for 68 yards for Wayne State, with Davis scoring two touchdowns.
Hillsdale 27, (at) Northern Michigan 17: Sam Landry threw scoring passes of 31 yards to Joe Srebernak and 25 yards to Andrew Mott for Hillsdale (2-3, 2-1). Landry completed 19 of 23 for 245 yards. Christian Jessie returned a kickoff 97 yards for a score for Northern Michigan (1-3, 1-3).
Saginaw Valley State 31, (at) Ferris State 28: Saginaw Valley State (4-1, 4-0) took a 31-14 lead when Andrew Dillon took a 7-yard touchdown pass from Jonathon Jennings in the fourth quarter, then held on as Jason Vander Iaan ran for a touchdown and threw for one in the last 8:01 to get the score close for Ferris State (3-2, 3-1). Jeff Janis caught 10 passes for 161 yards for Saginaw Valley.
(At) Grand Valley State 49, Michigan Tech 3: Heath Parling completed 19 of 24 passes for 264 yards and threw TD passes to four receivers for Grand Valley (4-1, 3-1). Michael Ratay carried 16 times for 117 yards. Brandon Cowie had 10 catches for 133 yards for Michigan Tech (2-2, 1-2).
Kalamazoo 38, (at) Trine 31: A 2-yard touchdown pass from Justin Danzy to Elijah Hamilton-Wray with 5:45 to play was the only scoring of the fourth quarter and the difference in the game for Kalamazoo (3-2, 1-0). Hamilton-Wray also had a 6-yard TD run in the second quarter, and Danzy connected with Josh Wise for two touchdown passes. Trine is 3-2, 0-1.
Olivet 20, (at) Alma 13 (OT): Javier Lara carried 17 yards for a touchdown in overtime to give Olivet (5-0, 1-0) the win. Braden Black rushed for two TDs in regulation for Olivet. Jarrett Leister threw for 2-1 yards and a touchdown for Alma (0-5, 0-1).
Adrian 17, (at) Hope 14: Aaron Tenney hit Nathan Hartline for touchdown passes of 56 and 49 yards to lead Adrian (4-1, 1-0). He finished with seven completions for 174 yards, with five of those completions going to Hartline for 128 yards. Shawn Jackson had 22 carries for 252 yards and two touchdowns for Hope (3-2, 0-1).
