On NBC’s “Today” show Monday, Miley Cyrus discussed her flap with Sinead O’Connor. The “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer wrote an open letter to Cyrus last week, which Cyrus openly mocked on Twitter, prompting O’Connor to demand an apology from Cyrus. “I think she’s an incredible artist,” Cyrus said. “I think she’s an awesome songwriter and I was really inspired by her for my ‘Wrecking Ball’ video, which was what started the whole thing. I don’t know how someone can start a fight with somebody that’s saying, ‘Hey, I really respect you and I really love what you did. You know what? You suck!’ And that was kind of crazy, but, like I said, I’m a big fan of hers and so it doesn’t really matter. It’s all good. You can write as many open letters as you want. That’s really what blogging is. I get open letters every day; it’s nothing too new for me.” Cyrus’ new album, “Bangerz,” hits stores today.
Carey partners with Dupri
Carey has teamed up with Jermaine Dupri in the past, but the pair is going to be working together much more extensively from now on: Carey’s reps announced on Monday that Dupri will now be her manager. “We have a bond that surpasses music,” Carey wrote in a statement. “I am super excited about our merger because we have so many innovative ideas that I know will come to fruition.” Dupri has produced some of Carey’s biggest hits, including “We Belong Together,” “Always Be My Baby” and “Shake It Off.” Dupri replaces Carey’s former manager, ex-“American Idol” judge Randy Jackson.

The band recently released the four track “EP 1,” its first collection of new music in 20 years. It is also the first Pixies music released that doesn’t feature the contributions of Kim Deal, who left the group earlier this year. New York indie rock group Cults will open the show.
Once again, Scarlett Johansson is the Sexiest Woman Alive. That’s according to Esquire magazine, who put the “Don Jon” actress on its November cover and bestowed upon her the SWA title. If this story sounds a little familiar, it’s because Esquire also named Johansson its Sexiest Woman Alive in 2006. Other recent titleholders: Mila Kunis (2012), Rihanna (2011) and Minka Kelly (2010).
