Em visits childhood home in 'Survival' video
Eminem’s video for “Survival” debuted online Tuesday. In it, the rapper visits his childhood home, the same house that appears on the cover of his new album “The Marshall Mathers LP 2.” The clip depicts Eminem rapping in a warehouse setting while performance footage, along with footage from the video game “Call of Duty: Ghosts” projected on a wall behind him; an earlier clip for the song was entirely built out of scenes from the game.
At the end of the video, Em is walking down a street and stops and stares at a dilapidated home, which is then revealed to be his former residence. The single-family home at 19446 Dresden — in the Greensbriar neighborhood, near Hoover and East State Fair in Detroit — made news last month when it hit the auction block. The house also was pictured on the cover of Eminem’s 2000 album “The Marshall Mathers LP.”
“Survival” is the second video released from “The Marshall Mathers LP 2.” The first clip, “Berzerk,” has been viewed nearly 30 million times since its release last month, according to YouTube stats. “The Marshall Mathers LP 2” is due out Nov. 5.
