General Motors Co. said Thursday that the company and its joint ventures sold 277,647 vehicles in China last month, up 13.7 percent from the same month in 2012 and setting a record for September sales.
GMís Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Wuling and Baojun brands all posted year-over-year sales increases in September. Wuling brand sales totaled 129,648 vehicles in September, up 18.4 percent, while Buick sales of 71,002 vehicles rose 14.3 percent, Chevrolet sales of 57,285 vehicles was up 2 percent and Baojun sales of 10,028 vehicles jumped 9.6 percent. The Cadillac brandís sales soared 73.9 percent to 4,496 vehicles.
China sales for GM and its joint ventures are up 11.1 percent through September this year compared to the same nine months a year ago. The automaker has sold a record 2.31 million vehicles through September in 2013.
