1. Anibal Sanchez: Really, he could take the 1, 2 and 3 slots — considering all the high-pressure jams he got out of, amazingly, considering he didn’t even allow a hit in his six innings. It was just the bounceback effort the Tigers desperately needed, after his rocking in the ALDS.
2. Jhonny Peralta: What can you say? About two months ago, he said his farewells to the Tigers — and didn’t know if he’d be back after his 50-game ban. He’s not only back, he’s been their biggest offensive hero all postseason. His two-out RBI single accounted for all the scoring.
3. Jose Iglesias: Many options, but Iglesias had a fine game at his old stomping grounds. In the second, he made a great play to get the nip Jacoby Ellsbury at first to end a threat. And he also had good at-bats, a positive sign for a Tigers team that desperately wants to play him.
