Detroit — The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s office has ruled that a man who was found dead, naked and with part of his leg missing died from natural causes.
The pathologist who conducted an autopsy Tuesday concluded that Rodney Tyrone Brandon, 50, died from complications with cardiovascular disease and suffered from hypertension, said Mary Mazur, a spokeswoman with the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s office.
Brandon’s dog was believed to have eaten part of his decomposing body.
Police found Brandon’s body lying inside a back room in his house about 4 p.m. on the 15000 block of West Parkway, Detroit police Mazur said.
“His body was severely decomposed and his left leg had been eaten off at the knee,” said Mary Mazur, a spokeswoman with the Medical Examiner’s office.
The man’s dog was found locked in the bathroom. Authorities were not sure exactly how the dog wound up in the bathroom.
Mazur said the dog was taken into custody by Animal Control and is not expected to be euthanized. Detroit Police Officer Dan Donakowski said he did not have any details about the dog.
