Multiple reports Monday say small forward Javon Bess of Columbus, Ohio, has committed to play at Michigan State next season.
Bess is a three-star prospect according to Rivals.com and Scout.com and took an official visit to Michigan State last weekend. The 6-foot-5 Bess had narrowed his choices to Michigan State, Kansas State and Dayton before deciding on the Spartans.
Bess is the second commitment in the 2014 class, joining point guard Lourawls Nairn of Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kan.
How Bessí commitment affects the continued recruitment of four-star shooting guard Devin Booker remains to be seen. Booker is also being recruited heavily by Kentucky, Missouri and Michigan and said he will announce his decision on Oct. 31.
Michigan State also remains in the hunt for several other top recruits, including big man Cliff Alexander of Chicago, forward Kevon Looney of Milwaukee, guard James Blackmon of Marion, Ind., and forward Trevon Bluiett of Indianapolis.
