Breathe easy, fans of Ferndale-based Garden Fresh Gourmet. The recent recalls involving a Wisconsin company with a similar name have nothing to do with them.
Last month, Garden Fresh Foods, which is based in Wisconsin, expanded a voluntary recall on various ready-to-eat salads, slaw, and dip products sold under various brands because they may be contaminated with the Listeria bacteria. Garden Fresh Gourmet says some of its consumers have been confused by the recall but the company wants to make it clear their products are fine.
“All of our Garden Fresh Gourmet products meet or exceed FDA standards for prepared foods, and all of our Garden Fresh Gourmet products are completely safe to enjoy,” John J. Latella, partner, chief operating officer and general counsel for Garden Fresh Gourment said in a news release earlier this week.
